This week we are reviewing the sight words to and have along with the letters Nn and Cc. In math we are learning about addition. We have also recently started working on journal writing which helps kids learn to sound things out and connect sounds. At home I would love for students to practice those skills as well. Just pick words that have 3 or 4 sounds in them and have your child practice stretching the word out to hear all the sounds and write them down. It doesn't matter if it's spelled correctly, just as long as they have the right sounds and they are in the right order. This will help your child as we get more in depth with writing. Also, if your child is not yet bringing home take home books that they read to you, don't worry, that will start to happen sometime after Christmas break.
Please remember that as it gets colder and colder, your child needs to bring a coat from home. If they do not bring a coat, they will not be allowed to go out to recess with us.
We are in need of snacks both in the AM and PM classes! Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Looking ahead, our class Christmas party will be on Friday December 19 (last day of school before the holidays). We are doing a "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" theme so have your child wear their pajamas to school that day. School will resume on Monday January 5.
Thank you for all your help and support! We are having such a great year! If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! jenny.jacobson@washk12.org or 668-5027
