We are starting a new literacy unit this week! We will be learning about the sight word is and the letter Oo. In math we will also begin a new unit on subtraction. If your child still does not recognize numbers 0-20 out of order, and if they still cannot write numbers 0-20 --please work with them! They will fall further and further behind in our new math program if they do not have these skills.
If your child has completed all the homework task cards (there are 15) and you would like for them to receive extra homework, please let me know. I will send a weekly packet of extra homework that they can work on at home. It does not need to be returned.
We did not have outside recess all last week due to the extreme cold weather but we are hoping this week will warm up a bit! Still, it will be cold outside and NO student will be allowed to recess unless they have a coat on! Not a sweatshirt or jacket but a coat. If your child comes to school in a sweatshirt or jacket, I will be checking that they have on 2 layers of long sleeves, or they will have to sit in the office.
We are still low on snacks! If each parent donated just 1 box of some kind of snack, we would be set for a month! Any donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Just as a reminder, our Christmas parties (AM and PM) will be on Friday December 20. That will also be the last day of school before the break. School will resume on January 2, 2014. I hope everyone has a very merry, very safe Christmas! Thank you for your help and support! Happy Holidays!

Newsletter for December 9 - 13
This week we will be reviewing the sight words to and have. Also we will be reviewing the letters Nn and Cc. In math we are continuing to work on addition --I have been so impressed with how smart these kiddos are! They are really understanding the concepts being taught!
Our last day of school before the break will be Friday December 20, which will also be the day of our class Christmas party! School will resume on Thursday January 2. It has gotten VERY cold and it appears it will stay cold a while longer so please make sure your child wears a coat to school! If you do not have a coat for your child, then at least please have them wear long sleeves and then a jacket on top. If students are not dressed warm enough they will not be allowed to go out to recess. I have already told the children but I wanted to remind you as well.
I went this last Wednesday to decorate our tree at Zions Bank! It turned out so cute and people kept commenting while I was there how adorable the ornaments were! If you would like to stop by with your child and see the finished product, the tree is located at the Zions Bank on River Road, kitty corner from Harmon's and the Maverick. I wish I could pack all the kids on a bus and take them down to see it! But hopefully you will have a chance to share that experience with your child! Here are some pictures of the finished product (but it looks even better in person!):
We are running low on snack both for the AM and the PM class! Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I completely forgot to share with you the cute pictures from our Thanksgiving corn tasting party! Here they are:
