This is our last full week of kindergarten! How time flies when you're having fun! Thank you for all your help and support this year! It has been an amazing time and I will miss each and everyone of the kiddos!
This week our final sight words are me and where. Please review all 31 sight words with your child before they come in for their assessments! The final letters we will be discussing are Yy and Zz. In math we will be finishing up our unit on equal groups, sharing and fractions.
Remember that Monday May 6 is our Popcorn Day! Please have your child bring in a bag of their favorite popcorn (already popped!) to share with the class. Then Wednesday May 8 will be our Ice Cream Day! You do not need to bring anything for that day --I will provide the ice cream! Our last theme day will be on Thursday May 9 and it will be our Beach Day! Make sure your child brings a beach towel with them! Thanks for being such good sports about these theme days! I think they have been a lot of fun and the kids have loved them!
I have received most of the green permission slips for Staheli Farm but I am still missing a few. Please make sure to bring them back to me ASAP. Also, please remember that there is a $2 donation that we need to give to Staheli Farm (that amount is per person, including parents who will be attending). The note I sent home might not have been too clear: all students will need to be at the school by 9:15 so that we can load the bus and be to Staheli Farm by 9:30. Then you will pick up your student at the school at 1:15. If you are planning on coming along and want to keep your child and meet us at the Farm that is okay. If you decide to ride the bus with us to Staheli Farm that is fine but we need to make sure whoever rides the bus there HAS to ride the bus back to school. I will be sending one more note home about the field trip next week. Also, if you have any questions or concerns about it we can chat at your child's post-assessment.
Looking ahead to after the field trip: Tuesday May 21 we will be cleaning our classroom and we will make it a water day. Your child should not wear a swimsuit (we won't get that wet) but should wear clothes that can get a little wet. On the last day of school, Wednesday May 22, will be pajama day. We will be watching a movie in class.
If you have any question please let me know! jjacobson@res.washk12.org or 668-5027
