This week we are starting a new unit in literacy! The new sight word will be to and the new letter will be Nn. As report cards are coming up, please review with your child all the sight words we have learned thus far. There are 9: a, can, go, I, like, see, the, we and to. In math we will also begin a new unit: Introducing Measurement.
Be sure to check your assigned SEP (parent-teacher conferences) time which I sent home. Please let me know if it will not work with your schedule ASAP. I have 44 appointments and very little wiggle room so I hope most times will work!
Looking ahead, there will be NO school on Wednesday November 21, Thursday November 22 and Friday November 23 for Thanksgiving. The day before the break, Tuesday November 20 will be our school Homecoming Parade and Turkey Bowl. The parade will be held at 1:30 and we will (hopefully) all wear our college shirts! Because the parade is in the afternoon, AM kids are invited to come join in on the parade if parents are able to bring them. The parade shouldn't last more than 15-20 minutes. The Turkey Bowl will be the 5th graders playing against some of the teachers. It should be a fun day!
If you have not yet ordered your college shirt you have until tomorrow, Friday November 9! The cost is $10. Also, remember that there will be NO kindergarten on Monday November 26 and Tuesday November 27 due to SEPs. The rest of that week will be the regular Friday schedule.
If you have any questions or concerns please let me know! jjacobson@res.washk12.org or 668-5027
